District: CARO 2 - Lakeville 0 (2-0, 0-0)

Tigers Win: 2 - 0
The CARO Tigers were hosting the team from Lakeville for the first District game. The game had to be delayed by 20 minutes due to a passing thunderstorm with lightenings. The game started with some convincing efforts from the home team. The fight for the ball wether on the ground or in the air was equally demonstrated by both teams. However, the Tigers came on top with a couple breakaways and close misses to score but without any outcome. Then, Captain and Junior Tanner Smith took a free kick from outside the box and his shot surprised the Lakeville goalie who could not save the ball cruising on top of him towards the net. Captain Smith put his team ahead with a 1-0 lead and his teammates responded well to this advantage. The center midfield was well managed by Captain and Junior Marik Phillips who was able to contain his opponent and support his defense who was led amazingly by Sophomore and Sweeper Jeremiah Anderson. With 10 minutes to go to the half, Captain and Senior Blake Spencer who had various opportunities to score deflected a ball cleared by one Lakeville defender to find Captain Smith who with a nice shot found again the back of the net for his second goal of the game. The first half verdict stayed unchanged at 2-0 in favor of the Caro team. The coach's speech was encouraging and congratulated his team who put in the effort and set the tone first. However, he warned his players not to relax with this 2 goal lead and stick with the game plan and basics and more passing transitioning from left to right of the field. Second half was again dominated by the hosts and the Caro team came close in many occasions to score more goals but without any impact on the scoreboard. The score stayed unchanged and the Tigers advance to the next round with this 2-0 win against Lakeville. Sophomore and goalie Logan McGarry earned his 3rd shutout of the season thanks to his amazing saves and the tremendous support from his defense.  The MVP award/trophy was presented to Captain and Junior Tanner Smith who scored the 2 goals for his team and played a spectacular defensive game all along. The coach is very pleased with his team performance and will prepare his players for the next game at tomorrow's practice at high school from 12:15 to 1:30 pm. Next round will be played at Atwood Stadium in Flint where the Caro Tigers will be facing the Flint Power Catholics on Monday October 18th at 5 pm. Bus will leave at 2:40 pm from the high school on Monday.

CARO 0 - USA 7 (0-4, 0-3)
3.0 years ago | Karim Amellal
Tigers Lose: 0 - 7
The Tigers were visiting USA for their last game of the season. The first face off ended up with 0-0 verdict in Caro. First half started with USA dominating the center midfield by the skilled #9 player. He was the play maker and the Tigers kept leaving him open. Consequently, the host team was able to create opportunities and the Caro defense and midfield didn't mark their opponents which cost 4 goals in first half with a 4-0 lead for USA. The speech from the coach was all about "why player #9" was not marked as directed? The Tigers missed all the soccer basics and the positions and players had to be shuffled. Second half was a little better but not enough to counter the hungry hosts who added 3 goals to end the game to 7-0 in their favor. District game is in Caro facing Lakeville at 5 pm on Thursday October 14.

CARO 8 - Laker 5 (4-4, 4-1)
3.0 years ago | Karim Amellal
Tigers Win: 8 - 5
This is the second game played after resuming the first one which ended with a 4-4 tie. The Tigers managed to walk away with a decisive 8-5 win during the 2x40 min second game of the night with the 8th goal scored by Captain and Senior Blake Spencer with only 2 seconds left. First half ended up with a 4-4 draw going back and forth but the Tigers always ahead with 1 goal until the 5-5 tie mark when the Tigers scores another 3 goals with a great defensive effort to prevent them to come back in the game. Senior and Captain Blake Spencer scored 4 goals, Junior Brady Rigg scored 2 goals with 4 assists, Seniors and Captains Adam Fisch and Marik Phillips scored each 1 goal and Junior and Captain Tanner Smith, and Sophomores Owen Vandemark and goalie Logan McGarry each finished with 1 Assist. The Lakers scored 2 goals on penalty kicks after players were fouled in the dangerous zone.  Sophomore Owen Vandemark missed a penalty kick by shooting the ball which bounced off the cross bar. The Lakers misbehaviors on the field cost them 5 yellow cards. Captains Clish and Fisch took one for the team with a black eye and bloody nose respectively. Sophomore goalie Logan McGarry made a couple of key spectacular saves to let his team walk away with a win. The MVP trophy was presented to the whole team as all the players fought a good battle together to win this game. The CARO Tigers are 4-4-2 in the conference race and 4-7-4 in the league rankings. Next game is away at USA at 4:00 pm on Monday October 11th.

CARO 4 - Lakers 4 (2-1, 2-3)
3.0 years ago | Karim Amellal
Tigers Lose: 4 - 4
Part 1 (Home game: September 14, 2021) The first face off between the Tigers and the Lakers was featured by a threat of thunderstorms and lightenings The coaching staff decided on two 30 min halves as a consequence. First half started with the Lakers focusing on their foreign exchange player from Spain who basically had 4 shots with 2 of them hitting the cross bar, the other the left post, another one missing closely the right post and the fourth one beating the Caro goalie for their first goal (0-1). The Tigers coach decided to assign stopper and Junior Ryan Will to closely mark this skilled player from the Lakers. Fair enough, the Caro players decided to take matters in their hands and dominated the game. Golden opportunities were created and missed by the Caro forward players until another top quality cross from right winger and Junior Brady Rigg reached Senior Blake Spencer who deflected it to Captain and Junior Marik Phillips to level up the scoreboard to 1-1. Phillips came from the center midfield position to score for his team and lift up the spirits and motivated his teammates. Shortly after, Captain Phillips delivered a pass on the right side towards Rigg who crossed a dipping ball to surprise the Lakers goalie for a 2-1 lead. Now the visitors are running out of options as the time is ticking to end the half time. Unfortunately for the hosts, a thunder was heard and the referee suspended the game with 1 minute and 18 seconds left to the first half. The game will resume at a later date to be determined by both school Athletic Directors and coaches. Part 2 (Away game: October 7, 2021): A short meeting between officials, the Lakers Athletic Director and coaches had a short meeting to make sure the clock started at 31 min and 18 sec to reflect the end if the first half and the start of the second half with Caro leading on the scoreboard with 2-1. It only took 10 minutes to have Captain and Junior Marik Phillips deliver an amazing pass to right winger and Junior Brady Rigg to add another goal for his team for a 3-1 lead. The Lakers with the other exchange student from France looked stronger up front as this player has excellent ball handling skills and shots. Fair enough, he got away from the Caro player marking him and was able to score their second goal. If it were not enough to see him shine, this freshman juggled the ball in the air and shot the ball towards the Caro goalie to level up the scoreboard to 3-3. Again the coach was trying to solve the mysterious enigma of marking this talented player and decided to put Captain and Senior Klayton Clish on him. Things looked much better without letting this European player hurt the Tigers defense. Another ball control in the midfield real estate by Captain Phillips allowed him to pass it to Captain and Senior Blake Spencer who scored the 4th goal for the Tigers. Now the score is 4-3 but the coach is still not convinced the defense will hold up. Fair enough, within 4 minutes to the end of the game, the other exchange student from Spain beat the right defender and the sweeper to score and tie the game to 4-4. Time was already running out and the two teams were pleased with a tie. The MVP trophy was presented to Captain and Junior Marik Phillips who not only had two assists but controlled the midfield headquarters to counter attack the skilled players from Europe. Next game vs Lakers followed with 2 x 40 min halves and the summary was already posted with Caro winning 8-5 (4-4, 4-1).

CARO 6 - CAPAC 2 (4-2, 2-0)
3.0 years ago | Karim Amellal
Tigers Win: 6 - 2
The Caro Tigers were traveling to CAPAC for their second face-off after winning the first game at home 2-1 in Caro. The roster was again reduced to 13 players due to injuries and sickness with only 2 subs on the bench. The line up for the Tigers got improved with the comeback of the solid goalie and Sophomore Logan McGarry. The coach's instructions were to control the game by setting the tone first. Marking closely the opponents and winning the ball were the other basic skills the coach was looking for. Also, the field conditions were mediocre with mud in certain areas of the field with bumpy soil. First half started shaky as the Caro defense was not able to control and clear the ball which allowed the CAPAC team to score first within the first 10 minutes. The coach was unhappy with the outcome but kept encouraging his troop to get back to work with common sense and use the basics of the game. Fair enough, the response was quick when Junior and right winger Brady Rigg delivered a golden cross to Senior and center forward Blake Spencer who managed to slip the ball in between the CAPAC goalie legs to tie the game. This quick goal gave the Tigers some energy and hope which was demonstrated by Senior and Captain Adam Fisch who scored the second goal with a nice shot following the great pass from Senior Spencer. At this point of the game, both teams were giving a good fight but the hosts came on top when again, due to the fragile Caro defense, they tied the game at 2-2. The coach has seen enough and made changes to the positions in defense to reset the whole thing and have the players reflect on their mistakes. Basically, two gifts were given to the hosting team as the Tigers dominated the game. The rearranging of the positions helped tremendously as the midfield was more  controlled by Junior and Captain Marik Phillips. This allowed Captain Fisch to find Captain and Junior Tanner Smith on the right midfield position who dribbled his opponent and delivered an amazing shot which beat the CAPAC goalie who couldn't save it for a 3-2 lead. You could see the Caro team gaining confidence on the field making passes and controlling the game. Midfielder and Captain Phillips deflected the beautiful cross from Junior Rigg to find Captain and Senior Spencer who without hesitation placed the ball in the net to put his team up front with a 4-2 lead at the end of first half. Close attempt were made by Sophomore Owen Vandemark who played an amazing first half as well as shots by Captains Fisch, Smith and Philips and right winger Rigg. Goaltender McGarry made three (3) spectacular saves to keep his team in the game and keepin the lead going into the second half. The intermission coach's speech was mixed since his players allowed two gifts to prevent goalie McGarry's possible shut out. However, the positive side of the speech was that the team responded well to the adjustments made and corrections were made to come back to the basics of soccer learned during practice. Second half was dominated by the Tigers and the highlight of the night was when Captain Spencer received a great pass from right winger Rigg, flipped over the CAPAC goalie to avoid a collision with a 360 degree rotation to stand up again on his feet to score his 3rd goal for a "hat trick". The Caro defensive crew led by Captain Klayton Clish and Sophomore Jeremiah Anderson adjusted to deliver a better performance by winning most of the balls and marking tightly their opponents. The continuing great efforts of midfielders Phillips, Smith, Vandemark and right winger Rigg opened another opportunity for Rigg to cross another golden ball to Captain Spencer who managed to place the ball in the net after a scrimmage in the CAPAC defensive zone. With a 6-2 lead, the Tigers were cruising along with great passes and ball control. Worth noting were the stopper and Junior Ryan Will, Left defender and freshman Jacob Zbytowski,  Left winger and Junior Ethan Fellows and right defender and Junior Nate Riedel who played a solid defensive game to protect their goalie McGarry. Goalie McGarry finished the game with a total of 8 saves with a total of 82 saves for the season after 11 games which averages to 7.45 saves per game and 2 shutouts. Senior and Captain Clish secured another shutout (0-0) against USA with 12 saves and Junior Ethan Fellows was a goal keeper against Oscoda (1-6) with 13 saves. The MVP trophy was presented today to Captain and Senior Blake Spencer who finished with 4 goals and 1 assist playing at the center forward position. Spencer totaled 8 goals and 2 assists for the season so far which broke the 6 year record for a player scoring and assisting performance. Spencer's intensity, tenacity and fearless behavior played in his favor to be the top goal scorer for his team supported undeniably by his teammates. The great support comes from right winger Rigg who has 1 goal and 7 assists with his breakaways and golden crosses on the right side of the field. Other goal scorers worth mentioning are Phillips (2 goals, 3 assists), Smith (2 goals, 1 assist) and Fisch (2 goals, 1 assist), Patel (1 goal), Vandemark (1 assist) and goaltender McGarry (1 assist). These stats demonstrate the dynamics of the players who support each other including the defensive crew. Next game and a half (yes 1.5 game) will be away at Lakers at 5:30 pm on Thursday October 7th to resume the home game stopped by lightenings with 1 min and 18 sec left to the first half with Caro leading 2-1 on the scoreboard followed with a 30 min second half. Then, another 2 x 30 min game will be played under the lights.

CARO 0 - USA 0
3.0 years ago | Karim Amellal
Tigers Lose: 0 - 0
The Caro Tigers were hosting the team from USA for their first confrontation of the season. Both teams were exhibiting a shortage in the roster due to injuries and sickness which reduced the lineup on both sides to 14 players each team. The tone was set by the hosts as right winger and Junior Brady Rigg had a breakaway and face to face with the USA goalie to see the shot go wide due to a bad bounce. The Tigers were dominating all along and another cross from Rigg went right towards the net but the USA goalie made an amazing save to keep his team in the game. Miscommunication among the Caro defenders gave the visitors a chance to score but Captain and Senior Klayton Clish made the save of the night by really stealing a goal from them. Another chance came from Senior Blake Spencer who could not get a decent shot at the goalie but had a better one with his head but towards the goalie's arms. The game was becoming physical and the intensity was increasing as the first half came to a halt with no outcome on the scoreboard. The speech from the coach was all about praising his players for the effort and the game plan they have been following and frustrating their opponents at various occasions. The coach pointed out to his players that they played as a team and unit and it was nice to watch finally the players communicating among themselves. More emphasis was on marking tighter and go to the ball first. Second half started with sun on the Caro goalie's eyes. Many attempts to score came mostly from the Tigers but without capitalizing on the various chances. The center midfield was well controlled and managed by Junior and Captain Marik Phillips and the amazing defensive crew was led by Sophomore and Sweeper Jeremiah Anderson who had a great game. Another player worth a mention was Junior and Captain Tanner Smith who played at the right midfield position and feeding the forward players with his amazing throw-ins. He actually delivered two wonderful shots towards the goalie who was at the right place to save them. More spectacular saves were made by Senior and Captain Clish who without any doubt kept his team in the game and delivered his shut-out. The MVP award was presented to Freshman and right defender Jacob Zbytowski who marked his opponent tightly all the time and prevented him to make dangerous shots. He was also noticed by the Tigers goalie Clish who agreed with the choice of the MVP. Zbytowski applies his coach's instructions and is improving very fast from week to week. Next game is away at CAPAC at 5:30 pm on Tuesday, October 5th. The bus will leave at 4 pm from High School.

CARO 1 vs. Oscoda 6 (1-4, 0-2)
3.0 years ago | Karim Amellal
Tigers Lose: 1 - 6
The Tigers again exhibited a decrease in the roster by 5 players due to injury, COVID-19 and camping. One of them was the goalie. So we had to assign the Junior and left defender Ethan Fellows to the task. This was a good opportunity for the coach to try out the two Freshmen on the team, Ty Farver and Jacob Zbytowski. The long drive to Oscoda was pleasant as the Caro team left the rain behind to finally experience some sunshine. First half started with some ball control in the midfield location creating chances for both sides. Two close range shots were saved by Junior Fellows to keep his team in the game. Lack of marking and defending caught up with the Tigers defensive crew and let one Oscoda player beat the Caro goalie. The visitors kept pressing up front to have right winger and Junior Brady Rigg cross a golden ball to left winger and Sophomore Owen Vandemark who set up a pass for a shot for center forward and Senior Blake Spencer to equalize the game to 1-1. Now the Tigers thought they had the game in control but the numerous mistakes in defense caught up with the team who allows 3 more goals during the first half which ended with 1-4 score in favor of the hosts from Oscoda. A complete rearrangement of the positions was in need from the coach to make things happen which helped but was not enough to stop the hungry opponents to add 2 more goals during the second half. With only one sub for the whole game, it was difficult for the Tigers to match up the 27 players Oscoda had with their JV team joining in. The MVP trophy was presented to Sophomore Owen Vandemark who not only had one Assist but played an amazing possession and control game in the center midfield position. Next game will be at home next Thursday September 30th hosting the team from USA at 5:30 pm. Also, since it will be the last HOME game, there will be a presentation for a Parents/Seniors night recognition, probably during the game intermission.

CARO 0 - Bad Axe 8 (0-5, 0-3)
3.0 years ago | Karim Amellal
Tigers Lose: 0 - 8
With 4 players missing from the roster, 1 couldn't play yet and another one injured, the 11 players (with no subs) from Caro were hosting the team from Bad Axe. The coach knew it would be a tough game and encouraged his Tigers to do their best considering the circumstances. Fair enough, the hosts gave a great fight within the first 20 minutes until Bad Axe with an open player capitalized on a shooting opportunity to open up the score board. A couple of breakaways from Caro didn't end up with any outcome and the goalie and Sophomore Logan McGarry made 8 amazing saves with one close range shot deflecting for a save. The visitors found more weaknesses in the Tigers defense and added 4 goals. First half ended up with a 5-0 lead for the visitors. Coach's speech was short but clear to make sure the man to man marking is observed at all time. It took only 19 minutes for Bad Axe to add the remaining 3 goals for a mercy. Next game will be away at Memphis this coming Thursday September 23 at 5:30 pm.

CARO 0 - Harbor Beach 8 (0-4, 0-4)
3.0 years ago | Karim Amellal
Tigers Lose: 0 - 8
The Caro Tigers were visiting the Harbor Beach headquarters for their second face off after losing the first game 1-2 at home. First half started with the host team taking control thanks to the same talented players (#7 and #10). The coach assigned two players to tightly mark those two players but that strategy was disrupted by two own goals by Sophomore and right defender Landon Hood and Junior and left defender Ethan Fellows, both surprising the Caro Goalie with headed balls while trying to clear it. If it wasn't enough, another unmarked Harbor Beach player was able to shoot at close range to make it 3-0. First half ended with another goal added to the score board to retrieve for intermission with 0-4 score in favor of the hosts. Second half started with the Tigers pressing and came close to score but without any outcome. The talented Harbor Beach team added 4 goals with only 27:04 left which ended the game as a mercy for the hosts. Worth noting was the Caro goalie and Sophomore Logan McGarry who made two amazing saves at close range shots and was able to make a total of 13 saves to minimize the damage. Obviously, the two goals scored on our own goal affected psychologically the Caro players as they were never able to compete against this team and didn't play as a cohesive team. Lots to learn from this game as the first game and this one didn't look alike in the scoreboard and on the field. Next game will be at home on Tuesday September 21st hosting the team from Bad Axe at 5:30 pm.

CARO 2 - CAPAC 1 (1-1, 1-0)
3.0 years ago | Karim Amellal
Tigers Win: 2 - 1
On a beautiful fall afternoon with temperatures around 70F, the Caro Tigers were hosting the team from CAPAC for the first time this season for their first face off. The coach has worked on play making sessions and passing combinations during practices this week and was hoping it would capitalize with a good game today. First half started with the Tigers setting the tone and trying to find weaknesses and lacks at their opponents. Unfortunately, an unmarked player had time to take a shot towards the Caro zone with Sophomore goaltender Logan McGarry making a spectacular dive to deflect the ball which still made it in the net to give the visitors the 1-0 lead. The coach warned the defense again and again not to let the opponents shoot with even challenging the ball to block or deflect the shot to protect their goalie. For about 15 minutes, the hosts were controlling the game and creating numerous chances but could not nail the ball in the net for the equalizer. Finally, right winger and Junior Brady Rigg delivered again a high quality golden cross to find Captain and Junior Marik Phillips who headed the ball for the equalizer (1-1) after moving up from his center midfield position. Many opportunities were created and missed by various forward players from CARO but the coach was pleased with the performance his team demonstrated during the first half. The speech was encouraging to stimulate the players to find that play breaker to win the game. Second half was in favor of the hosts since the sun was in the CAPAC vision and the coach recommended to take shots at the goalie's zone. About 7 clear chances to score were missed by the Tigers and patience is running out at the bench. With only 15 minutes left to the game, Junior and right winger Rigg received a pass from Captain and Junior Phillips and delivered a shot from the right side which surprised the CAPAC goalie when the ball went above his head into the net. This was the moment the Tigers have been waiting for to take the 2-1 lead and control the game and secure the win. Fair enough, despite some scary attempts from the visitors to equalize the scoreboard, the CARO defense contained the opponents and made sure the score stayed untouched. The Tigers are 2-4-2 in the season. The game MVP award was presented to both Juniors Brady Rigg and Captain Marik Phillips as they played an amazing game and each scored 1 goal assisted by each other. Phillips controlled the midfield while Rigg delivered numerous quality crosses for his teammates. Next home game will be next Tuesday September 14 hosting the Lakers at 5:30 pm.

CARO 0 - Almont 3 (0-2, 0-1)
3.0 years ago | Karim Amellal
Tigers Lose: 0 - 3
The Tigers were visiting Almont with fear of thunderstorms predicted towards the end of the day. First half started with the Caro Tigers really lacking in the defensive play and allowing their opponents to control and shoot at the Tigers goalie. Fair enough, one Almont player had time to take the ball from center midfield towards the Caro zone without being challenged by any visitors which allowed him to take a shot. The rebound hit one of the Caro defenders to surprise their goalie for their first goal. The second goal was a result of two offensive players playing tactical small passed to go past 3 defenders to again surprise the Tigers' goalie for the second goal. First half ended to the favor of the hosts 0-2. The coach, not happy with the outcome, had to swap the whole defensive crew to make things happen. The second half was a much stronger display by the visitors with so missed chances to score. A breakaway of the Almont left forward went past the defenders to again leave the Tigers goalie vulnerable for a shot to make it 3-0 for the hosts. The MVP award was presented to Senior Ayush Patel who played a solid game in both defense and midfield positions. Next game is this coming Friday at home hosting CPAC at 4:30 pm.

CARO 2 - Memphis 0 (0-0, 2-0)
3.0 years ago | Karim Amellal
Tigers Win: 2 - 0
After the defeat the CARO Tigers experienced last night against Bad Axe, the coach had to come up with some changes with the line up to improve the dynamics of the team and the game. Also, the coach warned his players to pay attention to the mistakes made during the previous games and learn from them and make a positive impact on the game. Fair enough, you can notice the big improvement at the start of the first half where every player knew their mission and job. The Tigers basically dominated the first half with some golden crosses from right winger and junior Brady Rigg who came close to score if not for the amazing save the Memphis goalie made on him. Unfortunately, the Tigers were not able to capitalize all the golden chances as the players were gathering close to each other up front and made it difficult to obtain a great shot. The center midfield was controlled by Senior Blake Spencer who also came close to score. Again, some adjustments were needed to start the second half. Therefore, the hosts started handling the ball better and creating more open chances from both sides of the field and finally, Senior Spencer headed a ball crossed by Senior and Captain Klayton Clish and deflected by Junior and Captain Marik Phillips to beat the Memphis goalie to have his team take the lead 1-0. The Memphis team had to respond by keeping the Tigers on their toes and tried to come back but the Caro goalie and Sophomore Logan McGarry supported by his defense (Sweeper Jeremiah Anderson, Right defender Landon Hood, Left defender Ethan Fellows and stopper Ryan Will) stopped every attempt to equalize the score. Nate Riedel and Ty Farver showed great improvements during this game.  Then, the coach decided to move Captain and Junior Tanner Smith to center forward position and within a few minutes, right forward Brady Rigg crossed a golden ball to Captain Smith who headed the ball to score the second goal for his team. Now, the Tigers are in control of the game and started to make triangular passes and keep the ball possession. Other attempts to score came really close from Captain Smith who dribbled past the goalie and shot the ball towards the net to miss it by not much close to the post. The verdict came in favor of the hosting team from Caro with a 2-0 win over Memphis for their first win of the season. It was also the first goalie's shut out for Sophomore Logan McGarry who made a key save to keep the visitors scoreless. The third game MVP trophy against Memphis was awarded to Junior and Captain Tanner Smith who after playing the right midfield position was moved by the coach to center forward position to score the second goal for his team. Captain Smith also came close to score his second goal when the ball cruised so close to the left post. Tigers Lose: 0 - 8
The Tigers were visiting Bad Axe for their second game of the season after a tight loss to Harbor Beach 1-2. Bad Axe was well known for their aggressive play and talents and the Caro team was not prepared for that. First half was basically all Bad Axe's possession and control and managed to score 5 goals during first half. The coach was not happy with the lack of energy and marking of the opponents. However, the Tigers showed some improvement towards the end of the first half. Second half lasted only 11 minutes for Bad Axe to add another 3 goals for the mercy. The Caro team had 3 breakaways and 1 shot in total. With already 2 players injured, this team has to regroup and start playing some basic soccer. The coach will work on conditioning and technical drills to improve the level of the players and he believes the players will improve as we go throughout the season. The MVP trophy was awarded to Senior Blake Spencer who played an aggressive game and marked his opponents as per his coach's instructions. Next game is tomorrow in Caro hosting the team from Memphis at 5:30 pm.

CARO 1 - Harbor Beach 2 (1-1, 0-1)_

Tigers Lose: 1 - 2
The squad from Harbor Beach was visiting the Caro Tigers for their first face off and game of the season! The hosts have practiced for 2 weeks working on technical drills, shots of goals and marking. Game situations were not practiced enough due to lack of time before the game tonight. The Tigers looked somewhat ready but surprised the crowd when they took the lead 1-0 after Captain and Senior Adam Fisch headed the ball well crossed by Captain and Junior Tanner Smith from the right middle of the field. The visitors didn't expect a quick goal after 3 minutes of play. Harbor Beach tried to come back quickly but the solid goaltender and Sophomore Logan McGarry made amazing saves to keep the score untouched! However,  as time elapsed the fatigue factor started to affect the Tigers as the lack of marking of two talented players (#7 & #10) was clearly evident. Fair enough, a bad give away from one Caro player allowed one Harbor Beach player to settle his play and shot accurately towards the Caro goalie who couldn't save it as the ball was placed at the top right corner out of his reach. Now the score is 1-1. The coach still had confidence in his team as they showed some determination during the first half. The speech was somewhat more encouraging to correct the lack of marking, first to the ball and shots blocking at the defensive headquarters! Second half started with the visitors determined to control the game which was mostly dominated by those two talented players. Another mistake of not marking the ball carrier and let him shoot the ball towards the Tigers goaltender ended up in another goal for the Harbor Beach crew. Other close attempts to score came from right forward and Junior Brady Rigg and Captain and Junior Tanner Smith. The coach tried different combinations with respect to positions but the clock ran out of time to concede this game for the visitors 1-2. Overall, the coach was pleased with the performance of his team during this early game of the season and have confidence that the team will progress all along. The MVP trophy was awarded to Senior and Captain Adam Fisch who scored the only goal for his team. Fisch also played a very aggressive offensive game by pressuring the visitors defense and goalie. Next away game will be next Tuesday at Bad Axe at 5:30 pm.
