CARO 1 vs. Oscoda 6 (1-4, 0-2)

Game Date
Sep 25, 2021
Score
TIGERS: 1
OSCODA AREA HIGH SCHOOL: 6

The Tigers again exhibited a decrease in the roster by 5 players due to injury, COVID-19 and camping. One of them was the goalie. So we had to assign the Junior and left defender Ethan Fellows to the task. This was a good opportunity for the coach to try out the two Freshmen on the team, Ty Farver and Jacob Zbytowski.

The long drive to Oscoda was pleasant as the Caro team left the rain behind to finally experience some sunshine.

First half started with some ball control in the midfield location creating chances for both sides. Two close range shots were saved by Junior Fellows to keep his team in the game.
Lack of marking and defending caught up with the Tigers defensive crew and let one Oscoda player beat the Caro goalie. The visitors kept pressing up front to have right winger and Junior Brady Rigg cross a golden ball to left winger and Sophomore Owen Vandemark who set up a pass for a shot for center forward and Senior Blake Spencer to equalize the game to 1-1. Now the Tigers thought they had the game in control but the numerous mistakes in defense caught up with the team who allows 3 more goals during the first half which ended with 1-4 score in favor of the hosts from Oscoda.

A complete rearrangement of the positions was in need from the coach to make things happen which helped but was not enough to stop the hungry opponents to add 2 more goals during the second half.

With only one sub for the whole game, it was difficult for the Tigers to match up the 27 players Oscoda had with their JV team joining in.
The MVP trophy was presented to Sophomore Owen Vandemark who not only had one Assist but played an amazing possession and control game in the center midfield position.

Next game will be at home next Thursday September 30th hosting the team from USA at 5:30 pm. Also, since it will be the last HOME game, there will be a presentation for a Parents/Seniors night recognition, probably during the game intermission.
