On a beautiful and warm Fall evening, the Caro Tigers were hosting the Lakers hoping to score a goal after the scoring drought at the Lakers real estate with a 0-0 tie game a few weeks ago. Tonight's game started with a much better control from the Caro team and several golden chances to score like the first confrontation between these two teams. Positioning and ball passing were at their best but the Tigers could not find the back of the net again due probably to the fact that the players were exhibiting pressure to score first. In vain, we had to wait until 8 minutes left to the first half to experience the worst call ever made by a referee to allow a penalty kick (PK) to the visitors. The Laker player on a sprint missed his shot and got tripped in the box after the fact. The coaches couldn't believe their eyes when the ref decided to yellow card the Caro defender and allow a PK for the Laker who converted it into the first goal of the game with only 6 minutes left to the first half. Caro definitely dominated the first half in all aspects with at least 4 closed call misses with one hitting the goal post. At break, the speech from both coaches was obviously to calm down the Tigers squad and keep playing the same game as the first half and forget about those bad calls. Fair enough, the Caro players kept pressing the Laker defense to finally force them to make mistakes which led to a foul in the dangerous box. The ref again and strangely made an indirect free kick call within a few feet from the goal line which was really weird. Captain and Junior Trevin Phillips converted that free kick into an equalizing goal for his 8th goal of the season to the satisfaction of the Caro crowd and coaches. The hosts kep playing a controlled game and used triangular passes to dominate again the second half. Both teams couldn't capitalize on the additional scoring chances and the verdict still held still at 1-1 tie game. The game MVP award was presented to Trevin Phillips who played an awesome game with so much effort and passion and allowed his team to walk away with a tie instead of a loss. Next game is again at home tomorrow Thursday October 4th at 7 pm hosting the team from North Branch.
