This fourth conference game was facing the hosts from Caro to the visitors from Bad Axe on a beautiful fall evening under the lights. The coach was warned before the game that 4 of his key players were sick and would not perform to their full potential. Despite the bad news, the Caro Tigers showed their first impressions by dominating during the first 10 minutes of the first half. With 3 minutes played, a beautiful cross found striker and Senior Manav Patel who headed the ball and beat the goalie only to hit the post and rebound out of play. This could have been a game changer if Caro scored! The players from Bad Axe realized that they cannot sit back and wait for the Caro offense to visit them again with more golden chances. The midfield real estate was controlled by both teams which allowed little to a few chances to test both goalies. Because both teams gave similar fight with ball possession and marking, they ended up with an even verdict for the break with an empty score board (0-0). The speech was easy for the coach as the Tigers played an awesome first half with great effort, discipline and control. The second half started with more enthusiasm from both sides as the game evolved. Midfield and forward players could not get a shot to a goal when the opportunities presented and that kept building frustration within the Caro players which cost two yellow cards. The visitors from Bad Axe took advantage of that distraction to surprise the defenders with a simple cross which found a well positioned striker and scored with a one timer shot to beat the Caro goalie and sophomore Coby Fetting who allowed the first goal in three games. With 33 minutes to play in the game, the hosts kept pressing and attempting to equalize the scoreboard but without success. Some close chances to tie the game came along but in vain. It was only a matter of time that the 4 sick players from Caro started to show some signs of under performance which abused the use of other teammates who in turn ran out of gas. The visitors took this chance to try to score a second goal if not for the two amazing saves made by goalie Coby on two close range shots. The Caro Tigers finished this 0-1 lost game with pride as they were told by the coach that they need to rest and heal with no practice tomorrow. The game MVP award was presented to Captain and Senior Christopher Walker who played almost a perfect game by minimizing the damage to only one goal and controlled the defensive crew all along. Next conference game will be at home again on Wednesday September 26 hosting the team from USA at 7 pm, the second confrontation between these two teams after a 2-2 tie 2 weeks ago.
