Game Date
Sep 17, 2018

TIGERS: 0
HARBOR BEACH COMMUNITY HIGH SCHOOL: 0

This game is the second conference game which was important to both Teams: Caro Tigers hosting the visiting team from Harbor Beach. First half started with an even fight to gain control of the midfield. The hosts were struggling with ball control and possession. However, it took some determination for the Tigers to regroup and own the real estate in the midfield location. Some missed opportunities to convert chances to score goals were shown on both sides with Caro having clear chances to score but without any results. We had to wait until the 30th minute to witness the magical dribbling of Captain and Junior Trevin Phillips who managed to sneak in among three defenders to finally end it with an accurate blast and placement that the Harbor Beach could not save. Caro was up with 1-0 and controlled mainly the remainder of the first half. Both teams had good passing combinations and chances to score. The first half speech was not pleasant by both coaches as the Tigers failed to control the game and made a couple passing and position mistakes. As you can imagine, the second half was mostly the visitors pressing and testing the Caro defense and goalie but without any results. The Tigers finally started to take control and play some triangular passes and were able to reverse the pressure towards the visitors. In fact, forward and Senior Clint Davison was pressing the Harbor Beach goal tender who mishit the ball and span it backwards to his own net with his defender trying to save it but in vain. This goal goes to Clint since he is the reason the goalie scored on his own goal. After this second goal, the Caro team was lifted with confidence and had only to maintain the rhythm and contain their offense to end it with a 2-0 well deserved victory in this 2nd Conference game. The MVP award was presented to the new Goaltender and Sophomore Coby Fetting who made several amazing saves with one particular spectacular one. Coby's first game as a goalie rewarded him with his first shut out for the team and an MVP award. Kudos to the defensive line-up which was led by Senior and Captain Christoper Walker who played a perfect game. He was the other contender for the MVP award. Next game is away on Wednesday September 19 at the Lakers at 5:00 pm.
