On a beautiful weather with a temperature cruising around 70F, the visitors from Caro seemed to be ready for another good game. First half started with both teams testing each other at both defensive and offensive lines. The game seemed evened out but Caro was the first team to make a costly mistake by not marking in midfield and allowing the unmarked player from Oscoda to score the first goal. After regrouping and realizing what just happened, the Tigers were putting pressure on the Oscoda defense. A brilliant pass from Senior Trevin Phillips reached Senior Chris Walker who converted it into a goal with a beautiful volley for a tie. The game seems to evolve in the midfield area with Oscoda dominating the possession. It took only a few minutes before the Caro goalie failed to stop an easy corner kick to let the ball reach the back of the net. This was a mental draining exercise since they worked hard to come back and tie the game. Now trailing 1-2, the visitors from Caro had no choice but to keep the pressure up front and create opportunities. Fair enough, the perfect positioning of left midfielder and freshman Ayush Patel rewarded his team as he intercepted an amazing pass from Trevin again to score the second goal of his team. Now the game is tied 2-2. With 15 minutes to play in first half, another costly turnover on the left midfield through excessive and unecessary dribbling gave the hosts another chance to score their third goal. The psychological effect started to invade the minds of the Caro Tigers and the red card received by a player from the Oscoda squad lowered their field line-up to 10. That was not enough to give the visitors the advantage. First half ended with so much frustration on the coaching side as the Caro players did not play as a team. The effort was not enough and the control of both the ball and the game was non existent. After an intense speech by both coaches, the Caro team seemed ready to forget the first half together with the three costly mistakes which led to three goals. Even with one man short, the team from Oscoda was determined to keep the lead and not allow any opportunities for the visitors to tie the game. You can feel the psychological effect from those mistakes disturbed the Caro players who scrambled to try to put some competition against the hosts without any success. With 5 minutes left to the game, Oscoda added another goal to make it 4-2 as the final score. Final speech from both coaches reminded the Caro Tigers that there is so much to learn in terms of positioning, fighting for the ball and make accurate passes to control the ball and the game. The game would have been to Caro favor without those 3 costly mistakes. The MVP award was handed to left midfielder and freshman Ayush Patel. Next game is at home hosting Dryden at 5 pm.
