CARO Tigers 1 - USA 1 (1-1, 0-0)

TIGERS: 1
UNIONVILLE-SEBEWAING HIGH SCHOOL: 1

On a very windy evening, the Tigers were visiting the USA headquarters for their first confrontation/battle of the season. Coach's instructions were the same: strike first and control the game. The Caro team controlled most of the first half of the game. Junior and Captain Faith MacDonald scored to put her team on the scoreboard assisted by Junior and Captain Olivia Walker. Then, two defensive mistakes were made failing to contain the USA forward player who was able to shoot at the Caro Goaltender just to see the ball go past her in the net to tie the game to 1-1. An unlucky and easy goal conceded like that was hard to digest for the team after working so hard to gain the lead.

Second half was against the wind for the visitors who were struggling with the long grass at the USA field. Passes were not always accurate and the runs were not enough to win the ball from the opponents. However, overall, the Tigers team were able to contain their opponents to keep the score unchanged for the rest of the second half to a final score of 1-1. It is a positive outcome despite the fact that Caro had 5 clear opportunities to score.

The MVP award was presented to Sophomore and stopper Lily Lemmon who played an amazing game stopping most of the dangerous balls using her body and head. She was able to mark tightly her opponent and containing her to a minimum number of breakaways and shots.

Next game will be at home on Tuesday May 4th hosting the Laker team at 5:30 pm.
